The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, or MUTCD, states that Sidewalk Closed signs should be placed at the beginning of a closed sidewalk, ahead of a closed sidewalk, or elsewhere along a closed sidewalk as needed. This sign features a black legend with a black border and a white background.
